Cannabis and Crohn’s Disease

Crohn’s disease also known as IBD Is a very uncomfortable Inflammatory bowel disease, causing inflammation in the digestive system. The mildest symptoms include painful stomach cramps, irritation and long term swelling. More severe symptoms include severe vomiting, diarrhea and bloody stool, extreme weight loss and even skin and eye conditions. Crohn’s disease causes daily pain and disruption in day to day life. Medical research has not found a cure for crohn’s disease and it is likely to be lifelong for most. Around half a million people in North America suffer from crohn’s disease. Physicians are often unaware of the therapeutic role and adverse effects of cannabis use amid concerns of federal prosecution and the changing political status of the drug, yet its use cannot be ignore.

CBD can be very helpful to people who suffer from crohn’s disease. CBD oil can be administered sublingually throughout the day to prevent symptoms of inflammation before they begin. Helping people with crohn’s disease have a much better quality of life. Cannabis has been used for IBS for centuries and was widely prescribed for digestive conditions until the legal status changed.
